Sr Manager, Space Planning – Micro Space Strategy & Process
Position Purpose
Lead the transformation of micro space planning practices by driving automation, process improvement, and the integration of advanced analytics. Champion initiatives that enhance efficiency and optimize resource utilization across the micro space planning function. Oversee the development and implementation of scalable, store‑specific solutions that align with assortment strategies and the company’s merchandising objectives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by developing, documenting, and sharing best practices across teams and the broader merchandising organization.
Key Responsibilities
50% Lead/develop team in executing space analysis that influences merchant decisions and financial outcomes. Work with merchants to capture visual merchandising strategy, and provide corresponding planogram support. Projects typically involve opportunities that can drive significant incremental revenues. Accountable for team’s accuracy, thought process, timeliness, and viability of recommendations. Review, monitor and communicate metrics and results.
30% Identify, develop, and refine processes to enhance space management within merchandising.
20% Collaborate with business leaders to determine priorities and ensure alignment. Develop connections with cross‑functional partners to further analytical insight and viability of executing assortment/space changes. Proficiency at communicating to all levels of management.
Direct Manager / Direct Reports
Reports to Director, Space Planning.
Number of Direct Reports: 6.
Travel Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements
Most of the time spent sitting in a comfortable position, with frequent opportunity to move about. Rare occasions may require moving or lifting light articles.
Working Conditions
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep expertise in micro space planning and planogram automation.
Proven experience leading process improvement, efficiency, and tool development initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to assess and optimize resource utilization within planning teams.
Strong analytical, technical, and project management skills.
Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and scalable solutions.
Experience with JDA/Blue Yonder or similar space planning tools.
Track record of developing and sharing best practices to drive organizational excellence.
Strategic, innovative, and comfortable with ambiguity.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the job or equivalent experience.
