Job Description Job Description Our client, a leading global manufacturer with a strong presence in the Greater Grand Rapids area, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their operations team on a 1-year contract to hire basis. This role is designed to support critical production functions and continuous improvement initiatives, with the potential for contract-to-hire based on performance and business needs. This opportunity is open to candidates across experience levels. What You'll Be Doing: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support across manufacturing lines to minimize downtime and drive root-cause solutions. Lead or support the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing. Identify and implement improvements in production processes, equipment, and workflows to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize labor/material costs. Participate in or lead special projects involving process redesign, equipment upgrades, or implementation of corporate initiatives. Analyze ergonomic risks and implement corrective actions to improve safety and employee well-being. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and drive strategic improvements across the production lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and resolve manufacturing process issues quickly and effectively. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing tools. Plan and execute equipment installation and process upgrades. Provide technical documentation and support for process changes. Track improvement metrics and project expenditures. Contribute to strategic process planning and long-term improvements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; OR equivalent experience in manufacturing process support. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Experience: 5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience (degree not required if this level of experience is met). Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and ergonomic assessment. Familiarity with equipment selection, installation, and commissioning. Understanding of process modeling, simulation, and value stream mapping. Background in human factors engineering or occupational biomechanics is a plus. Project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
