Offer Description Job Information
Department: Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces
Research Field: On-surface synthesis and characterization of antiaromatic nanomaterials for advanced optoelectronic applications
Research Profile: Post-doctoral
Country: Spain
Type of Contract: Temporary
Job Status: Full-time
Offer Starting Date: 1st February 2026
A post-doctoral position is available in the group Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces, led by Prof. David Écija, at IMDEA Nanociencia. The group is dedicated to the design, characterization and understanding of quantum organic, metal-organic and inorganic materials. To this aim, it counts with an excellent research infrastructure comprising three state-of-the-art ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
The selected candidate is expected to mainly conduct research in the field of on-surface synthesis of functional antiaromatic nanomaterials (including molecules, polymers and two-dimensional networks), for advanced optoelectronic applications, using scanning probe techniques (STM, STS and nc-AFM). He/she will also have the opportunity to work within an excellent interdisciplinary team, being supervised by Dr. Ana Barragán and Prof. David Écija.
The position is offered starting on February 1st, 2026.
Funded by the project: MOLQUANTUM (SYG-2024/TEC-707 MOLQUANTUM-CM)
Requirements
Applicants must have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or equivalent. A strong background in scanning probe techniques is required. We are seeking outstanding candidates with initiative and strong teamwork skills. A record of scientific publications will be taken into consideration.
