The Role: Guiding Expat Clients with Expertise and Collaboration
We are seeking an International Financial Advisor to join our U.S. Expat Team and support Americans living abroad with comprehensive financial planning and investment management. Based on-site at our Madison, WI office, you will work closely with a seasoned expat advisor, serving as a key teammate in delivering virtual client meetings and customized strategies. This role emphasizes virtual client interactions, leveraging modern tools to ensure seamless, efficient service across the globe. You will play an integral part in helping expat clients manage cross-border challenges, from tax implications to global asset allocation, while contributing to the team's collaborative dynamic.
Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
Advise Expat Clients : Provide personalized financial planning, including retirement strategies, tax-efficient investing, estate planning, and risk management tailored to U.S. expats living internationally. Facilitate Virtual Engagements : Conduct nearly all client meetings virtually, building strong relationships through empathetic communication and clear education on complex topics. Collaborate with the Team : Partner with experienced expat advisors and support staff to develop and implement client plans, sharing insights and ensuring cohesive service delivery. Utilize Modern Tools : Employ advanced financial planning software and technology to analyze portfolios, model scenarios, and maintain compliance in a tech-driven environment. Stay Informed and Innovative : Keep abreast of international regulations, market trends, and fiduciary best practices to enhance client outcomes and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.
Who We're Looking For:
We value professionals who bring a client-first mindset, strong teamwork, and a passion for international finance. Key qualifications include: 3+ years of financial services experience, with a focus on advisory roles; no existing book of business required. Comfort with virtual client interactions and proficiency in modern financial planning tools (e.g., Advyzon, RightCapital, Nitrogen, or similar platforms). Series 65 or 66 required within 3 months, CFP and/or CFA designation preferred, or a commitment to obtaining these certifications. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and build trust remotely. A collaborative team player eager to work alongside experienced advisors in a supportive environment. International asset management experience is a plus. Personal international experiencesuch as living abroad, education overseas, or extensive travelis highly valued and will enhance your ability to connect with expat clients. Develop and write content designed to inform and educate the expat community on issues that are relevant and impactful and contribute to our podcasting and social media efforts to disseminate this information to the expat community. Advanced and Bachelor's degrees are beneficial.
