MonFri | 3 Days Onsite | 2 Days Remote Job Overview The Payroll Director will lead and manage the payroll function for a workforce of approx. 10,000 employees across multiple states and the Caribbean in a highly unionized environment. This role is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with federal/state regulations, and effective use of the Workday payroll system. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for payroll operations. Oversee multi-state payroll for union and non-union employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws, and union agreements. Partner with HR, Finance, and other departments for smooth payroll integration. Drive process improvements and automation in
Workday . Lead, train, and mentor a team of payroll professionals. Review and analyze payroll reports and metrics. Address payroll inquiries and resolve issues. Stay updated on payroll regulations and industry trends. Manage year-end processes including W-2 preparation and distribution. Maintain payroll data integrity and support audits. Lead payroll tax planning, reporting, filing, and reconciliation. Support special projects such as acquisitions, upgrades, and policy changes. Must-Have Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field. 10+ years of payroll management experience
in a large, multi-state, unionized environment. Experience managing payroll for
5,000+ employees
in a union-heavy structure. Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as
CPP ,
HRCI , or related credentials.
