Position: Assistant Controller

Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site Location: Downtown Miami, FL 33030 Compensation: $100,000

$135,000 (DOE)

Position Overview A growing real estate, property management, and construction organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support and strengthen its accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for a highly capable, detail-oriented professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with initiative, leadership, and sound judgment.

The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensure accurate financial reporting, support internal controls, and partner closely with leadership to improve processes and scalability across multiple entities and projects.

Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly close process across multiple entities, properties, and construction projects Prepare, post, and review month-end journal entries Oversee financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP Manage accounting related to real estate, property management, and construction operations, including job costing, WIP schedules, billings, and capital expenditures Perform and review CAM reconciliations and tenant expense allocations Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including intercompany transactions and consolidations Develop, maintain, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis Provide financial insights on operational performance, trends, and risks Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Ideal Candidate Profile Very sharp, highly perceptive, and proactive Demonstrates strong initiative and a get-it-done mindset Comfortable operating in fast-paced, multi-entity environments Background in commercial construction, property management, and real estate accounting Hands-on experience using QuickBooks, AppFolio, Buildertrend, and FieldEdge

Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 46 years of progressive accounting experience within real estate, property management, and/or construction Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency
