Key Responsibilities

Represent insured individuals and the Company in the defense of 3rd‑party and 1st‑party bodily injury and property damage lawsuits.

Represent the Company in pre‑litigation examinations under oath.

Assist the Company with new and ongoing SIU investigations.

Prepare thoroughly for and conduct hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and examinations under oath.

Prepare and present pre‑ and post‑trial motions effectively.

Assist colleagues in resolving calendar conflicts in a collaborative manner.

Offer counsel to business clients on day‑to‑day legal matters.

Manage projects efficiently, fostering coordination and collaboration among legal teams.

Keep abreast of and evaluate new laws, regulations, and case law; identify and summarize relevant issues; collaborate with other areas of the Law and Regulation (L&R) department; provide proactive advice and counsel to business units on the impact of new laws; monitor legal representation.

Education

Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.

Minimum Requirements

3+ years of proven litigation experience or strong litigation‑type skills, such as case strategy development, legal research, and advocacy, with the ability to manage complex disputes and work effectively under pressure.

First or second chair jury trial experience is preferred.

Proven experience with insurance defense is preferred.

Experience with Special Investigations Unit (SIU) protocols, investigation and litigation preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LexisNexis (preferred), and internet research.

Strong teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants under the guidance of Lead Counsel.

Capacity to manage a substantial case load.

Comfortable working in a remote environment and willing to travel throughout the greater Houston, TX area.

Compensation Annual range: $85,600.00 – $152,650.00, based on experience and qualifications.
