Job Summary IDEAYA is a precision medicine oncology company committed to the discovery, development, and commercialization of transformative therapies for cancer. Our approach integrates expertise in small‑molecule drug discovery, structural biology and bioinformatics with robust internal capabilities in identifying and validating translational biomarkers to develop tailored, potentially first‑in‑class targeted therapies aligned to the genetic drivers of disease. We have built a deep pipeline of product candidates focused on synthetic lethality and antibody‑drug conjugates, or ADCs, for molecularly defined solid tumour indications. Our mission is to bring forth the next wave of precision oncology therapies that are more selective, more effective, and deeply personalized with the goal of altering the course of disease and improving clinical outcomes for patients with cancer.
Position Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and drive the operational execution of IDEAYA’s development programmes, and serve as the head of early‑phase clinical development. The CDO will be responsible for managing timelines, budget, resources, deliverables and ensuring overall operational excellence of the Development teams within the CDO’s management scope, to include being the head of early‑phase clinical development, biomarker sciences, clinical operations (early and late phase), medical writing, and project management. The successful candidate will have strong operational, leadership skills and a track record of successful collaboration with cross‑functional teams and experience overseeing clinical operations. The CDO will report to the Chief Medical Officer and have a dotted‑line reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of IDEAYA. The CDO will also be a member of the Executive Committee.
Job Description What you’ll do
Serve as the head of early phase clinical development with full accountability for clinical strategy, operational excellence, management and execution of all early phase clinical development programmes
Work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer, the late phase clinical development team, research, manufacturing (CMC), and commercial
Build, mentor, and lead development teams by fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance
Perform in IDEAYA’s working‑leader environment where all leaders demonstrate strategic leadership, role‑model values, collaborate and team‑work, and roll up sleeves on day‑to‑day deliverables
Be highly analytical, comfortable with formulating and delivering data‑driven, fact‑based analysis
Be resourceful, demonstrate an agile and lean mindset, creative problem solver who seeks out and is receptive to new ideas and approaches to solving challenges

Requirements
Medical degree and medical oncology training required
Minimum of 20 years of clinical drug development experience within biopharma industry required
Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience required
Thorough understanding of oncology clinical trial design, across all phases
Experience and understanding of clinical trial data monitoring and all aspects of drug development required
Knowledge of GCP and ICH guidelines required

The expected salary range for the role of Chief Development Officer is $434,000 - $536,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the office location, the candidate’s experience within their profession, experience in the disease areas we strive to impact as a company, length of time within the industry, educational background, and performance during the interview process.
