The Department of Oral Biology in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to teach dental students, residents, and graduate students in pharmacology and/or physiology. The faculty member will direct one or more courses and is expected to possess excellent interpersonal skills. This position is on a tenure track.

Comprehensive knowledge of human physiology or pharmacology.

Responsibilities
Teaching – 35%
– Teach pre-doctoral dental students, residents, and graduate students. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Scholarship – 60%
– Conduct independent research and collaborate with faculty within The Dental College of Georgia, the wider AU community, and externally.
Service – 5%
– Engage in service activities as needed by the department, college, institution, and scientific community.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in physiology or pharmacology, and/or dental qualification (DDS or equivalent).
Productive record of established scholarship of national significance, preferably related to diseases of the head and neck.
Record of didactic instruction.
Potential for 1) teaching in physiology or pharmacology; 2) obtaining extramural funding; 3) high-impact publications.
Assistant Professor – Early career consistent with the position requirements.
Associate Professor – Mid-level career, at least five years as Assistant Professor.
Professor – Senior career, at least five years as Associate Professor.
Employment qualification: Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation, evidence of teaching ability, scholarly activity, successful experience (waived for early-career), and desirable personal qualities judged by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
MD.
Teaching experience in physiology or pharmacology.
Experience writing and submitting research funding applications.
Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. Full-time (1.0 FTE). Salary and compensation commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
