Position Overview
Roving HVAC Mechanic/Electrician – The Peterson School (Synergy)
Location: Boston, MA; Vehicle provided; Reports to MEP Lead.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Travel throughout the portfolio of buildings to perform maintenance and service on building equipment.
Assist building engineers in troubleshooting and repairs of HVAC equipment, scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, and provide recommendations on upgrades.
Perform critical service on buildings HVAC and mechanical equipment.
Coordinate the overall quality of the work team and demonstrate an understanding of quality standards.
Foster a collaborative work environment by leading in problem‑solving within the team and across functional areas.
Develop weekly work schedules to ensure time is efficiently and accurately billed out.
Develop a full understanding of critical building systems and how to operate them.
Work with team to perform hands‑on upgrades to building equipment, equipment replacements, repairs, and emergency service.
Off‑hour work at times is required to avoid disruptions to day‑to‑day tenant operations.
What We’re Looking For In You
High school graduate or equivalent required; technical training or trade school preferred.
3+ years experience in Electrical, HVACR or related field.
Mass refrigeration, electrical or plumbing license a plus but not required.
Self‑motivated and hardworking individuals not afraid of a challenge.
Ability to think beyond routine repairs, focusing on long‑term sustainable solutions.
Desired Skills And Experience Include
Mechanical, HVACR, electronic and electrical principals.
Plumbing, relay logic, SAP, and computerised maintenance management systems.
DC drives and PLC systems, Meggers, and the use of ammeters for electrical evaluations.
Ability to interact well with co‑workers and promote the “Team” concept.
Good directional, organisational, technical and analytical skills for resource allocation.
Strong research, investigation, problem‑solving, reporting and process‑improvement skills.
Work Conditions & Essential Physical Characteristics
Work performed inside and outside properties with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current and machine noise.
Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling.
May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
