Director, Open Banking Strategy – PayPal
PayPal is a global payments platform, empowering consumers and businesses in over 200 markets. We seek a Director of Open Banking Strategy to lead our enterprise strategy for open banking and open finance, driving innovation and value across our product portfolio.
Responsibilities
Establish a shared vision across the company for one or more products or a platform product enabling development & scalability, with a deliberate and cohesive strategy.
Lead product strategy development and create a clear, executable view of the strategy with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Influence the architectural roadmap, balancing innovative design with technical implementation, regulatory requirements, time‑to‑market, customer needs, and profitability.
Champion the customer experience, prioritizing customer needs in product requirements and decision‑making.
Define and use metrics that inform product success, including usability studies, research, and market analysis.
Standardize workstreams to include analytics, customer discovery, market research, and competitive analysis for data‑driven decisions.
Take responsibility for product profitability, including budgetary decisions.
Lead operational mechanisms that drive execution and accountability—Product Reviews, Operating Reviews, and Business Reviews—and interface with senior leadership as needed.
Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the standard.
Qualifications
10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of experience leading others.
Preferred / Additional Responsibilities
Define a destination‑state vision for open banking/open finance at PayPal.
Lead prioritization and roadmap development for open banking/open finance across all enterprise use cases.
Drive commercial strategy and negotiate with third‑party providers for open banking.
Drive innovation in how open banking data is used across a wide range of domains.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Legal, and other teams to execute on the strategy and roadmap.
Collaborate with open‑finance use‑case owners across Risk, Credit, Marketing, Payments, and more.
Skills
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, capable of defining strategy, prioritization, and roadmaps.
Experience working with open banking / open finance data to generate meaningful value across use cases.
Proven ability to collaborate in a highly matrixed environment with multiple partner teams.
Trusted relationship builder with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Understanding of relevant regulatory environments (e.g., FCRA, ECOA, GLBA, GDPR) as they apply to data sourcing and usage.
Compensation & Benefits The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $188,000 to $323,950. Total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits. For more information, visit https://www.paypalbenefits.com.
