Director, Construction, Gallery Development Base pay range: $220,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

Job Description: At RH, retail construction has been reimagined, and Gallery Development is the visionary team bringing the RH aesthetic to life, transforming exceptional properties, often historic or architecturally significant landmarks, into iconic RH Galleries. From rooftop parks and European‑inspired gardens to immersive Design Gallery showrooms, we are creating the most elevated home furnishing and hospitality experiences in the world. As part of the Gallery Development team, you’ll transformative spaces and play a key role in advancing a movement that is redefining the landscape of luxury retail. RH is seeking a Director of Construction to provide strategic leadership and operational excellence across a portfolio of complex, high‑profile projects. This role oversees all phases of the construction process, from predevelopment to closeout, with an unwavering focus on quality, cost control, schedule adherence, risk management, and team performance. The Director of Construction sets the standard for operational excellence, cultivating high‑performing teams, and building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Through visionary leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement, this individual will help shape RH’s physical footprint while ensuring the brand’s design intent and uncompromising quality are flawlessly realized. The ideal candidate is a strategic builder who combines vision with technical expertise, inspires accountability, and drives continuous improvement in every facet of the construction process.

Your Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex, high‑profile construction projects, ensuring alignment with RH’s vision, quality standards, and business objectives

Oversee all project phases, from concept and preconstruction to closeout, driving excellence in budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and execution

Lead high‑level planning, including scope development, value engineering, constructability reviews, and competitive bid strategies

Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal cross‑functional teams (Design, Development, Legal, Finance, Merchandising, Operations) and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional outcomes

Set and enforce project controls, reporting structures, and communication protocols to ensure clarity, accountability, and operational discipline

Direct contract negotiations, consultant and contractor onboarding, and trade buyouts to ensure scope alignment and fiscal responsibility

Oversee all aspects of cost management, including forecasting, financial reconciliations, and change order lifecycle management

Champion schedule adherence, proactively managing risks and resolving challenges to meet project milestones

Mentor, develop, and inspire project managers and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Serve as a thought leader, driving innovation and process enhancements to elevate construction excellence and reduce costs

Represent RH with professionalism and influence, serving as a key liaison for executive leadership and strategic partners

Our Requirements

10+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction, including ground‑up, adaptive reuse, historic renovations, and high‑end tenant improvements

5+ years of experience leading project teams and managing staff across multiple locations

Experience in luxury retail or hospitality environments strongly preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED AP) preferred

Proven business acumen with deep expertise in real estate development, commercial construction, and financial oversight

Mastery of construction management, including contract law, estimating, scheduling, and building systems across diverse asset types

Exceptional ability to interpret and manage complex architectural and engineering documents with precision and attention to detail

Skilled leader with a track record of building high‑performing teams, fostering accountability, and developing talent across dispersed locations

Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive leadership and external partners

Strong negotiation, vendor management, and conflict resolution skills, coupled with high emotional intelligence and resilience

Proficiency with project management platforms (Microsoft Project, Office Suite, and ideally Procore or Smartsheet)

Physical Requirements

Occasional travel for site visits, vendor engagement, and project oversight.

Frequent standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.

Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.

Frequent reaching with hands and arms; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching.

Occasional lifting or moving of objects.

Visual tasks may include close vision, distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
