Chief of Staff
role at
Scale AI .
Scale’s mission is to develop reliable AI systems for the world’s most important decisions. As Scale continues to grow in the Generative AI space, we are looking for a Chief of Staff to support the VP of Operations in improving how the team works, advancing key priorities, and helping Scale 2.0 operate effectively.
As Chief of Staff, you will act as a true force multiplier—ensuring priorities are advanced, the VP’s time is focused on the highest‑impact areas, and their voice is amplified across the organization. Your work will span across operations, engineering and product teams to scale our AI model‑training expert network and improve systems across growth, trust & safety, support, pay, and community. By leading projects, managing team routines, and clearing obstacles before they escalated, you will bring clarity and steady execution to the team’s most important efforts.
Responsibilities
Act as a strategic partner and advisor to a senior leader – elevating insights, synthesizing data and shaping decisions across initiatives.
Serve as a “Swiss army knife” operator: independently structure ambiguous problems, drive clarity and deliver solutions across technical and non‑technical domains.
Manage the operating cadence of the team, including planning cycles, workshops, and business reviews.
Collaborate closely with other functional teams and leaders across Scale, enabling you to influence without authority and drive alignment on critical priorities.
Help build team cohesion by supporting on‑team communications and events.
Proactively identify issues and resolve problems before they escalated and work with the VP to unblock teams to ensure forward momentum.
Desired Qualifications
6–10 years of experience in management consulting, finance, and/or a high‑growth technology or marketplace business, with a strong track record of delivering cross‑functional initiatives and results in high‑pressure environments.
Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous problems and use data to drive decisions (SQL fluency required).
Highly autonomous with strong judgment and discretion, able to navigate ambiguity, take ownership and influence across technical and non‑technical teams.
Strong operator with experience running, facilitating or improving operating cadences – planning cycles, workshops, reviews, and cross‑functional projects.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate both cross‑functional coordination and intra‑team communications.
Intellectually curious, eager to learn about GenAI model training and the broader AI ecosystem.
Nice to Have
Experience in an operating role at a Business‑to‑Consumer (B2C) company, ideally a marketplace.
Experience in an AI company or on AI‑related projects.
Experience directly working with senior executives in a high‑agency role.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring Scale AI operates well, makes sharp decisions and delivers on important priorities. If you thrive in fast‑moving environments and want to help shape the future of how world‑class AI is built and delivered, we’d love to meet you!
Compensation Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this full‑time position is
$180,600—$225,750 USD .
