Position Summary The Director of Retail Sales will be responsible for developing and executing the brick‑and‑mortem retail strategy. This individual will own relationships with major retailers, expand presence in big‑box and specialty stores, and lead a network of manufacturers' reps to accelerate growth. The ideal candidate has deep connections within the retail industry, proven success selling consumer products (preference for eyewear, optical, or accessories), and the ability to open new accounts with speed and precision.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive retail sales strategy to grow distribution and revenue across all brick‑and‑mortar channels
Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with national and regional retail partners (e.g., Costco, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Best Buy, etc.)
Build and lead a network of independent sales reps and rep groups to drive new account acquisition and in‑store sell‑through
Partner with marketing and operations teams to ensure successful retail launches, merchandising programs, and replenishment processes
Own the retail sales P&L, including forecasting, pricing strategy, and promotional planning
Conduct regular business reviews with key retailers to identify growth opportunities, improve performance, and strengthen partnerships
Lead trade show and in‑store event initiatives to increase brand visibility and sell‑through
Monitor competitive landscape, category trends, and pricing to inform sales strategy
Collaborate with product and marketing teams to align the innovation pipeline with retail insights and customer needs
Qualifications
At least 10+ years of experience in consumer product sales, with a focus on brick‑and‑mortar retail
Proven success managing relationships with big‑box and specialty retailers
Established network of retail contacts and sales rep groups capable of opening new doors quickly
Experience in eyewear, optical, accessories, or personal care categories preferred
Strong negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growing company
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred)
