Job Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This role is eligible for a $7500 New Hire Sign-On Bonus and a relocation bonus up to $5,000. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
Schedule This position is 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two weeks). Holidays and call are not required. Shift: Ten Hour Night Shift, 8 PM – 6:30 AM, Thursday – Sunday. Shift differentials: Evening Hours $2.00/hr Night Hours $3.00/hr Weekend Premium $2.00/hr Training takes place on day shift, 40 hours/week, for the first 90 days. About Our OR At UMMC East Bank

The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital with 24 newly renovated Operating Rooms.
Our OR performs an average of 60 cases per day.
We provide innovative surgical suites, including a hybrid suite and intraoperative MRI suites.

Responsibilities
Supply appropriate instruments, sutures, and specialty items.
Maintain aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
Ensure accurate identification and handling of specimens.
Count all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
Assure availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
Modify clinical interventions based on population served.
Support a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
Anticipate the surgeon’s needs.
Take appropriate action in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
Completion of one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire.
1 to 3 years surgical tech experience.
Other Required Skills
Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of the population served.
Knowledge of age‑appropriate outcomes and interventions.
Desired Skills
Ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
