Senior Tax Associate (Permanent) Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join a collaborative and highly respected tax team supporting high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, and partnerships. This permanent role offers the opportunity to work on complex tax matters, partner closely with leadership, and mentor junior staff in a professional services environment. The ideal candidate brings deep technical tax expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented culture.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare timely fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax returns, with an emphasis on complex filings and problem resolution
Partner closely with the Director in a supportive and collaborative working relationship
Serve as a resource and mentor to Junior Tax Accountants
Provide backup coverage for the Director during absences
Communicate directly with clients as authorized
Review tax preparation work completed by other Tax Accountants
Provide expert tax guidance to the Director, Tax Accountants, and clients, including partners within the Private Client Department
Participate in the interview process for new hires and contribute feedback to performance reviews for junior staff and tax support personnel
Take on additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience preparing fiduciary, charitable, partnership, and personal tax returns
Extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals
Strong experience with 1040 and 1041 returns
Ability to manage complex tax engagements with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Taxation
Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment
Proficiency with ProSystem fx and OneSource Trust Tax
Additional Skills & Experience
Advanced knowledge of applicable tax codes and ongoing tax law changes
High proficiency with tax preparation software and related technology
Strong independent work skills with the ability to initiate and follow through on projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with tact and diplomacy
Ability to interact professionally with attorneys, staff, and clients while maintaining strict confidentiality
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure
Highly detail-oriented, flexible, and discreet in handling sensitive matters
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 with an annual bonus
