Under the Assistant Vice President of Nursing Education is responsible for the clinical competencies for all levels of nursing staff (professional, ancillary and agency nursing staff). Maintains database of all competencies and required (mandatory) in-services. Ensures that competencies and in-services (products, mandatories, etc.) are assigned and implemented on a 7-day, 24-hour basis. Identifies needs and recommends changes to provide efficient coordination and documentation of JCAHO and hospital required competencies. Position Details
Nursing Education Competency Manager / Program Manager Full-Time / 9am - 5pm On-campus Responsibilities
Plans, develops, completes, evaluates competency assessments for all nurses and ancillary nursing personnel on a 24-hour basis. Coordinates competency assessments on agency nursing employees. Responsible to arrange products in-services on a 24-hour basis, maintain attendance/competency records, collect and analyze product evaluation tools and report findings to General Products Committee. Collaborates with DON and AVP of Nursing Education in preparing, implementing departmental and unit specific competencies. Maintains documentation of all competencies in the Nursing Office files. Ensures safe and professional patient care by enforcing and monitoring compliance to professional standards, identifying clinical competencies; recommends methods for improving staff competence and patient care and assists in developing, implementing and evaluating programs. Ensures that all nursing staff is kept informed of Medical Center and department policies, procedures and standards. Oversees the performance improvement programs in area of responsibility, identifying patient care issues, developing performance improvement monitors and ensuring that follow-up actions are implemented. Assists Unit DON’s in planning, developing and directing specific unit projects/competencies. Maintains required records/maintains electronic database of competencies/training in-services/mandatory classes. Coordinates special projects as assigned. Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy. Selects, hires and supervises staff in area of responsibility; initiates disciplinary action, including terminations; carries out annual performance appraisal of employees recommending promotions, raises, etc. Qualifications
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nursing, allied health, education, HR, organizational development) Several years of experience in the domain of practice technical operations, or HRD plus experience in education, training, or competency management. Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable plans. Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work effectively across disciplines and levels of the organization. Preferred: Master’s degree preferred in clinical, education, or leadership discipline. Demonstrated experience with competency frameworks, needs assessment, and program evaluation; familiarity with learning management and/or competency tracking systems. Pay Range
