Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II represents the face of the company to patients visiting for routine health needs or critical health decisions.
- This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures.
- The role involves direct patient interaction, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, and performing procedures in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
- The Phlebotomist II demonstrates leadership behaviors with a strong focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may include a doctor s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials and signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Commitment to company policies, dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
- Ability to travel and work at multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus and effective communication with patients, peers, and supervisors.
- One to three years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Two years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
- Phlebotomy and specimen processing.
- Patient interaction and customer service.
- Documentation and data accuracy.
- Time management and multitasking.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in certain states.
