Job Title: Plant Controller
Location:
Roanoke, VA The Plant Controller will oversee the financial operations of the Roanoke, VA manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to provide insights that support strategic decision-making at the plant level. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, leadership experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight: Manage all accounting operations at the Rincon plant, including job costing, inventory, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Maintain proper internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the plant-level budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with operations and department leaders. Analyze financial results, provide variance analyses, and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports to plant and regional management, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities. Conduct financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies. Partner with plant leadership to drive profitability and cost-control initiatives.
Compliance & Audit: Ensure plant compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations. Support external audits and regulatory reviews as needed. Maintain strong relationships with auditors and other external consultants.
Operational Support: Collaborate with operations teams to align financial strategies with business objectives. Provide financial insights for investment decisions, plant projects, and cost-control initiatives.
Key Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters degree preferred). 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations (GAAP, IFRS), and best practices. Proficiency in financial systems and ERP software. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence plant and corporate leadership. Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on attention to detail and operational alignment.
Preferred Skills: Familiarity with plant-level financial operations in a multi-national manufacturing company. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance in the state of Virginia.
