Role: Network Engineer I
Location: Hybrid in Cincinnati OH
Duration: Full Time Employee
Job summary: This position will work with various departments within Core Network, OSP Planning & Engineering, VoIP Engineering, and other operations and support organizations in the planning, configuration, and implementation associated with our IP network(s). This position will also have responsibility for the support and repair functions, for these IP networks and any associated customer networks. The Network Engineer I will design and perform all network engineering functions required on all Layer 2 data services sold to Business Retail and Carrier Customers. The individual will manage and configure all related IP configurations for customer dedicated internet orders.
Requirements: Expert knowledge of TCP/IP Expert knowledge of TCP/IP enhancements such as multi-cast, QOS techniques, bandwidth, and path reservation techniques. Working knowledge of DS3, T1, OC3, ISDN, Frame Relay, SONET, ATM, and DSL, and other bandwidth link specifications and protocols. Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in engineering and administering IP networks. Cisco Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE highly recommended. Extensive hands-on experience in the configuration and maintenance of routers, hubs, bridges, and switches. In-depth Experience with TCP/IP platforms involving dynamic routing protocols like EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP and their related control protocols. Practical real-world experience of heterogeneous networking components along with knowledge of routing/ switching involving VLANs, ATM, Frame relay, and optical carriers.
