Job Overview Estate planning attorney for a small but well regarded firm. Full‑time attorney with substantial estate planning expertise. Willingness to work from Lakeland office and ability to work from Jacksonville office.

Responsibilities
Represent clients at court hearings related to estate matters when necessary
Meet with clients to discuss their asset distribution objectives
Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to navigate litigation and related procedures
Analyze each client’s situation, develop a legal strategy, and advise on an appropriate course of action
Maintain organized, up‑to‑date client files and case records
Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
Advise clients on estate planning methods, tax considerations, and asset protection techniques
Assist with probate proceedings, including preparing required filings, representing clients in court, and managing estate administration tasks
Oversee estate and trust administration, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Explain complex legal processes and options to clients in clear, understandable terms
Provide counsel on business formation and special needs planning when relevant
Draft legal instruments related to trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and business entities
Work closely with clients to create and implement strategies that safeguard and preserve their assets
Qualifications and Knowledge
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; undergraduate degree required
Admission to the Florida Bar in good standing
LLM in Taxation is HIGHLY preferred
A minimum of eight years of law firm experience handling estate planning and probate matters
A current and portable book of business, minimum 350k
Familiarity with trusts and estates practice, including estate planning, probate, and trust administration
Understanding of tax planning, asset protection, wealth transfer, and business entity formation
Experience with federal estate tax returns and federal gift tax returns is a plus
Knowledge of real estate matters such as title insurance, wills and trusts, property management, and related litigation
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in high‑stress or emotionally charged situations
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving and client service
Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)
