A respected trial team in the DC metro region is seeking an Associate with 2‑7 years of business/commercial litigation experience to join their growing practice. The lawyers in this group focus on complex litigation across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia and frequently serve as co‑counsel to national and international law firms handling matters in federal and state courts.
This role is ideal for a driven litigator who can immediately take ownership of matters, manage demanding caseloads, and thrive working on sophisticated business disputes. This is not a mentorship‑focused position – the team is looking for an attorney prepared to contribute from day one.
Position Details
2‑7 years of business/commercial litigation experience
Located in Norfolk, VA (fully in‑office)
160 billable hours/month
Compensation: $120,000 – $170,000+ based on experience
Discretionary bonus structure
Opportunity to work on complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts
Routinely interfaces with national and international firms as litigation co‑counsel
Requires strong initiative and ability to work independently
Candidate Profile
Solid commercial/business litigation background
Proven ability to manage pleadings, motions, discovery, and court appearances
Strong writing, strategic thinking, and case management skills
Able to “hit the ground running” with minimal oversight
Open to candidates from insurance coverage backgrounds
Not considering candidates solely from insurance defense practices
