This is an on‑site position and can be based from any of Asure’s hub office locations, including Austin, TX; Santa Ana, CA; Burlington, VT; Cherry Hill, NJ; Rochester, NY; Tampa, FL; or Cherry Hill, NJ.
How You Will Contribute Strategic Leadership & Management
Lead and manage the Enterprise/Reseller Tax Support function, setting strategic goals and ensuring operational excellence.
Build and scale a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax‑related matters impacting the HCM/HRIS landscape.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure tax processes (payroll tax filings, unemployment tax, W‑2 processing) comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on systems and operations.
Collaborate with Legal, Risk, and Product teams to embed tax compliance in product offerings and client deliverables.
Operational Excellence
Oversee daily operations related to tax filings, amendments, payments, reconciliations, and year‑end processing.
Design and implement scalable processes and automation to support enterprise clients with complex tax needs.
Manage relationships with third‑party vendors, agencies, and partners as needed.
Client & Internal Support
Act as a key escalation point for complex client tax issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
Provide thought leadership and technical tax expertise to internal teams (Customer Support, Sales, Product Development).
Develop and maintain knowledge content, tools, and training to support internal stakeholders and client education.
Technology & Systems Integration
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to guide tax‑related system development and enhancements.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in tax configurations, updates, and system testing.
Champion the integration of tax compliance automation and self‑service tools for clients.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, related field or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of progressive experience in payroll tax or employment tax compliance, preferably in an HCM/HRIS or payroll service provider environment.
5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role managing enterprise tax operations.
Deep understanding of multi‑state and federal payroll tax regulations and reporting.
Proven ability to manage large, cross‑functional teams and complex operational processes.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to translate complex tax concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred
CPA, CPP, or equivalent tax certification.
Experience in SaaS, technology, or software product environments.
Familiarity with tax integration in large‑scale HCM/HRIS platforms.
Knowledge of systems like Workday, ADP, UKG, Oracle HCM, or similar.
Compensation The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 depending on level of experience.
