Overview The Mass General Cancer Center Protocol Office (CCPO) conducts multi‑phase studies in the outpatient setting at the MGH Cancer Center. CCPO Research Nurses are responsible for screening and enrolling patients for trials, patient education, triage phone support, symptom management, expert knowledge of protocols, meticulous documentation, and strong advocacy for patients while they are on trial.

Schedule & Hours Hours: 4 ten‑hour shifts, Monday‑Friday, 7 am‑5:30 pm. Set schedule with possibility of one remote day.

Eligibility

Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.

BSN preferred.

Minimum 2 years oncology nursing experience required.

Associate’s Degree Nursing required or Bachelor’s Degree Nursing preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.

Key Responsibilities

Screen and enroll patients for clinical trials.

Provide patient education and triage phone support between treatment visits.

Manage symptoms and maintain expert knowledge of protocols.

Document encounters in the medical record including education, adverse events, oral study drug adherence, protocol deviations, phone encounters, and follow‑up.

Advocate for patients while they are on trial and serve as a resource to the multidisciplinary care team regarding protocol specifications.

Essential Functions

Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions or side effects.

Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.

Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing and patient care.

Knowledge of care required by age groups.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Work Details

Work Location: 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA.

Remote Type: Onsite.

Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Day shift.

Employment Type: Regular.

Grade: GHCARN055.

Pay Range: $41.72 – $105.65 per hour.
