Our agency is looking to fill a full‑time, non‑permanent Corrections Specialist 3 (CS3) position within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Family and Offender Sentencing Alternative (FOSA) and Community Parenting Alternative (CPA) program located at 10109 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499. The non‑permanent appointment is expected to last about 9‑12 months.
This position works in collaboration with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) by using the 5 Protective Factors and other community stakeholders to improve public safety. Shift hours are Monday‑Friday, 0800‑1630.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct investigations in accordance with Washington State Law and agency policy within prescribed timeframes.
Supervise participants in the Parenting Sentencing Alternative in accordance with Washington State Law, Interstate Compact rules/Regulations, and agency policy within prescribed timeframes.
Engage with participants and their families to work toward building the 5 Protective Factors: Parental Resilience; Social Connections; Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development; Concrete Support in Times of Need; and Social and Emotional Competence of Children.
Enforce supervision conditions and the law.
Lead other case managers.
Other duties as assigned and necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have the ability to carry and properly utilize a department‑issued firearm.
Must possess and maintain a valid Washington vehicle operator’s license.
CASE QUALIFICATIONS (choose one):
Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer or three years of professional case management experience in adult or juvenile corrections.
Associate’s degree and at least five years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer or five years of professional case management experience in adult or juvenile corrections.
High School diploma or GED and at least seven years of experience working collaboratively with other agencies, providers, or local city governments in providing case management that includes direct family re‑unification services or family‑based treatment/counseling.
A combination of qualifying education and/or experience equaling seven years.
Master’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, criminology, or closely related field substitutes for one year of the required professional case management experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Two years’ experience working collaboratively with other agencies, providers, or local city governments in providing case management that includes direct family re‑unification services or family‑based treatment/counseling.
Integrity: Earns others’ trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.
Leadership: Promotes organizational mission and goals and demonstrates how to achieve them.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
Complete and pass the psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in‑service, and other required training.
Become familiar and comply with all department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements, as applicable.
Successfully complete the Firearms Academy and Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT) training within prescribed timeframes, including maintaining eligibility to possess and use a firearm under federal and state laws.
