OVERVIEW

The CEO provides strategic, financial, and community leadership for MEF, working in close partnership with the Board of Directors to advance the Foundation’s mission, steward its endowment, and strengthen its long‑term impact. The CEO leads a high‑performing staff and serves as MEF’s primary ambassador to donors, community leaders, and district partners. Reporting to, and in collaboration with, the Board of Directors, the CEO is the key management leader of the organization and will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. The CEO, who should be a self‑starter and driven, is responsible for overseeing development, administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach in this rapidly growing and thriving community. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Strategic Leadership and Governance

Provide strategic leadership to advance MEF’s mission and ensure alignment with Board priorities and long‑term organizational goals. Partner closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and key initiatives. Support strong governance by maintaining open communication, preparing timely reports, and ensuring informed decision‑making. Fundraising and Resource Development

Lead all fundraising and development efforts, including annual giving, endowment growth, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and signature fundraising events, generating approximately $2 million annually across multiple funding streams. Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, families, corporations, foundations, and community partners to strengthen long‑term philanthropic support. Work with the Board and Development Committee to set fundraising goals, strategies, and performance metrics aligned with MEF’s mission and strategic priorities. Financial Management and Endowment Stewardship

Ensure sound fiscal management, accountability, and transparency in collaboration with financial advisors, auditors, and the Board’s Finance and Endowment Committees. Monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial performance while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements. Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for MEF in the community. Foster strong partnerships with McKinney ISD leadership, city officials, corporate leaders, and community organizations. Strengthen MEF’s visibility and reputation through effective communication, public relations, and strategic outreach. Organizational Management and Culture

Lead, mentor, and support staff fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and mission‑driven performance. Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure operational efficiency and program excellence. Program Oversight and Impact

Ensure the effective administration of scholarships, classroom and programmatic grants, and advisory programs that directly serve students, educators, and families. Evaluate program performance, outcomes, and community impact, ensuring alignment with MEF’s mission and strategic priorities. Identify opportunities to expand or innovate programs that address emerging educational and workforce development needs. Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

High integrity, sound judgment, and a results‑oriented mindset. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences, including donors, educators, and civic leaders of MEF vision. Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit education‑focused sector. Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation. Experience with Donor Database systems (QuickBooks, Bloomerang, Award Spring, etc.). Track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance‑and outcomes‑based organization and staff. Experience and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered. Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including at least three years in a senior executive role within a nonprofit, foundation, or educational organization. Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, and endowment growth. Strong background in financial management, budget oversight, and working knowledge of investment and endowment principles. Proven experience partnering with a governing board to shape and implement organizational strategy, reporting, and accountability systems. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential, preferred. BENEFITS
