Custodial Services Manager

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is a world‑class, award‑winning airport that serves more than 54 million guests in Fiscal Year 2025. The Airport’s Custodial Services Manager (CSM) reports directly to the Custodial Services Director and manages the Custodial, Window Cleaning and Food Services units, ensuring high‑level environmental and customer service standards. Compensation Range:

$134,576 – $171,834 Responsibilities

Support the Custodial Services Director in coordinating and implementing airport environmental services and sustainability practices, including solid waste, recycling, green chemicals, and environmentally preferred equipment. Coordinate the work of custodial services, window cleaning and food services operations, enforce policies, institute corrective actions and deliver a comprehensive in‑service training program. Develop and recommend staffing patterns, job content, workload, performance standards, and analysis of work methods to maintain and improve service level. Initiate and maintain contacts with airport divisions, tenants, contractors and the public to investigate complaints, respond appropriately and resolve conflicts. Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives and policies for general customer service operations; allocate resources within budgetary constraints; and adjust plans based on budget and operational changes. Review specifications for proposed construction or improvements and recommend actions that enhance appearance, safety and sustainability of facilities. Conduct routine inspections for quality assurance, safety and sustainability compliance. Collaborate with other airport sections and city departments to resolve operational issues affecting custodial services. Support planning efforts by implementing operational procedures and service improvements aligned with organizational goals; identify resource needs and adjust staffing accordingly. Review and submit requisitions for custodial supplies and equipment; maintain inventory and cost control. Assist the Custodial Director in drafting memo correspondence on performance, staffing updates and service concerns to management and contractors. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience:

Three (3) years of verifiable professional experience in custodial services units or a related field. License & Certification:

Valid California (Class C) driver’s license. Education Substitution

Additional work experience may substitute for the degree on a year‑for‑year basis for up to four years. One year of experience equals 30 semester units (or 45 quarter units). Desirable Qualifications

Experience in training and implementing sustainable/environmental practices for cleaning professionals. Experience in contract management, budgeting, labor relations, timekeeping and vacation record tracking for large public facilities. Experience in purchasing janitorial and/or facilities equipment and supplies for large‑scale operations. Experience in administering multi‑million‑dollar operation budgets. Managerial or supervisory experience with several hundred custodial, window cleaning or food service employees. Experience preparing and issuing disciplinary documents, including suspension or termination recommendations. Work Hours & Physical Requirements

Position requires physical effort including frequent walking and standing for 3–6 hours a day; occasional computer use for reports. Employees may work day, swing, graveyard shift, weekends, holidays and overtime. How to Apply
