The CT Technologist performs routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures using CAT scan equipment. This role involves patient preparation, image acquisition, equipment operation, and collaboration with radiologists while ensuring adherence to radiation safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic CT imaging and select special procedures in accordance with established protocols Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and clear communication Operate, maintain, and care for CT equipment Apply radiation safety principles to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self Process and manage images and CDs when needed Adhere to radiology standards of care and hospital-wide customer service initiatives Participate in quality assurance and other departmental duties as assigned Exercise sound professional judgment during all imaging procedures Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited allied health education program in radiography or a hospital-based radiography program NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required ARRT registered (RT-R) and/or CT certified
OR
NMTCB registered (CNMT) Documented training and experience operating CT equipment, including radiation physics and protection Must pass advanced CT certification/examination within
1 year of hire Maintain required continuing education per governing body standards (currently 24 ECE credits every 2 years) BLS certification through the
American Heart Association (AHA)
required or to be completed within
90 days of hire DOH IV certification preferred or completion within
6 months of orientation Completion of
ACR Image Gently and Image Wisely radiation dose pledges
