To support this growth, BDI is seeking a VP of Sales who can elevate our sales organization, strengthen our customer partnerships, expand our market presence, and champion our brand in every channel we serve. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead an established, respected national sales representative network and a best-in-class Customer Service team.

Reporting to the President, this leader will be joining a collaborative, inquisitive, and performance-oriented culture where great design, disciplined thinking, and strong relationships are highly valued. This role collaborates closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Design, and Executive leadership to shape strategy and deliver results.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE IN THIS ROLE?

Lead a high-performing national sales organization -

You will set clear expectations, elevate accountability, and empower our independent sales representative network to drive meaningful, measurable results.

Strengthen BDI’s presence across every channel -

Through strategic account development, high-touch customer relationships, and an understanding of both traditional and emerging channels, you will grow revenue, profit, and share of floor.

Champion the BDI brand -

You will ensure our design excellence is reflected in every showroom, trade show, online listing, and customer interaction.

Shape the future of BDI -

As a key member of the Executive Team, you will help shape strategy, influence product development, and contribute to long-term planning as BDI continues to scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership

Develop and refine a national sales strategy aligned with BDI’s growth objectives and design-driven brand ethos.

Identify new markets, channels, and strategic opportunities across retail, design trade, eCommerce, AV, contract, and hospitality channels.

Maintain deep awareness of industry trends, competitive activity, and evolving customer needs.

Analyze sales performance, pricing, product mix, and profitability to drive informed decision making.

Establish annual and quarterly sales goals, KPI frameworks, and dashboards to foster a performance culture.

Provide customer-driven insight to Marketing, Product Development, and Design to guide assortment, positioning, and new product opportunities.

Sales, Customer Service & Channel Management

Lead all commercial activities across Home Furnishings, Trade, eCommerce, and AV channels.

Manage and optimize a national network of 20+ independent multi-line sales representatives—including recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and ongoing performance management.

Oversee the Customer Service team to ensure best-in-class support for consumers and dealers, maintaining BDI’s reputation for exceptional responsiveness.

Ensure consistent visual merchandising, brand standards, and strong product presentation across all partner locations.

Build strategic relationships with key retailers and partners, serving as a trusted advisor and category expert.

Oversee sales training programs for reps, retail associates, and trade partners.

Lead all trade show activities, including planning, booth experience, execution, and follow-up.

Manage promotional strategy, pricing programs, and channel policies; proactively resolve channel conflict.

Allocate resources effectively across territories and channels to maximize results.

Marketing & Promotional Programs

Partner with Marketing to develop channel-specific messaging, promotions, initiatives, and sales tools.

Manage national and local promotions to ensure alignment with brand equity, profitability targets, and partners’ needs.

Oversee discretionary promotional funds with a strategic, ROI-focused mindset.

Actively participate in key brand events, trade shows, and customer summits.

Talent Management

Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development for both internal staff and the rep network.

Conduct annual performance reviews, weekly one-on-ones, and team meetings.

Build a high-performing team culture with clear expectations, accountability, and communication.

Serve as an active member of the Executive Team, contributing to strategy, metrics, process improvements, and long-term planning.

Collaborate closely with Design, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure alignment and effective execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

15+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, ideally within a design-driven consumer products company or home furnishings brand.

Minimum 4 years at the VP level (or comparable senior leadership role).

Experience in the home furnishings industry and strong familiarity with retail, trade, design, hospitality, and contract channels.

Demonstrated success managing independent rep groups and/or distributed sales organizations.

Strong understanding of eCommerce and digital-channel sales strategies.

Proven ability to interpret customer feedback and market trends to influence product development.

Exceptional communication skills—capable of inspiring teams, influencing executives, and building trusted partner relationships.

Proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and productivity software. FileMaker experience is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to execute multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.

LOCATION This role may be based remotely or at BDI’s headquarters.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Extensive travel required (50–75%), including customer visits, trade shows, conferences, and quarterly on-site meetings at corporate headquarters.
