Practice

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive written discovery, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and analyzing responses.

Manage depositions, including preparing outlines, defending client representatives, and taking depositions of opposing parties and witnesses.

Draft pleadings, including complaints, answers, counterclaims, and third‑party claims with strategic consideration of client objectives.

Prepare and argue substantive motions, such as motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and motions in limine.

Attend and actively participate in mediations, working with clients and mediators to achieve favorable settlements.

Handle court appearances, including status conferences, hearings, and oral arguments.

Assist at trials and arbitrations, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom presentations.

Conduct legal research and analysis on complex commercial law issues.

Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and clients.

Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates and practical counsel.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm's offices and practice areas.

Mentor junior associates and manage relationships with litigation support staff.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Superior academic credentials demonstrating strong analytical and writing abilities.

Active Texas Bar admission and in good standing.

4–6 years of substantive business litigation experience at a law firm.

Proven experience conducting written discovery in complex commercial matters.

Demonstrated proficiency taking and defending depositions.

Strong skills drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.

Experience attending mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.

Trial or arbitration experience preferred.

Excellent legal research and writing abilities.

Strong oral advocacy and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Client service orientation and business acumen.

Self‑motivated with ability to work independently when appropriate.
