Computational Fluid Dynamics Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a CFD Thermal‑Hydraulics Engineer to join our team.

Position Description The role involves analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer within a reactor and associated systems, performing high‑fidelity thermal‑fluid simulations using commercial CFD tools, documenting analyses, and interfacing with design teams.

Specific Responsibilities

Develop high‑fidelity CFD analyses of thermal‑hydraulic behavior in reactor core, vessel, heat exchangers, power conversion, and balance of plant systems.

Proactively design, model, and analyze thermal‑hydraulic systems; develop and use efficient analysis methods building confidence in designs.

Perform engineering analyses across thermal, fluid, safety, manufacturability, and cost domains.

Collaborate cross‑functionally to define design requirements and provide technical feedback to rapid‑iterating design teams.

Document work with modern tools and produce clear, thoughtful technical reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.

Proficiency with STAR‑CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, Nek‑5000, or equivalent.

Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics principles.

Experience with data processing (pre‑processing, post‑processing, scripting).

Bonus Qualifications

Thermal‑hydraulic engineering and multi‑physics analysis for power systems.

Nuclear engineering principles and multi‑physics analysis for advanced reactors.

Heat‑exchanger, turbomachinery, and fluid‑control system analysis.

Modern software engineering practices and programming language proficiency.

Fluency in Python.

Reactor transient analysis experience.

Experience with safety codes (GOTHIC, RELAP, TRACE, SAM, SAS4A/SASSYS‑1).

Travel Requirements Remote employees may need to travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, twice a quarter for meetings, off‑sites, and other company events.

Compensation Salary: $73,000 – $157,000 base, plus performance incentives and equity. Benefits include flexible time off, 401k, health insurance, FSA, and other perks.
