Role Overview The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will serve in a key technical leadership role supporting land development and infrastructure projects. This position involves preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports, specifications, and plans, as well as leading the design of foundations, earth retention systems, and other geotechnical elements of construction. The role provides regular collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and opportunities to mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Design and review earth structures, deep foundations, excavation support, and underpinning systems
Provide technical oversight for geotechnical investigations and construction‑phase services
Support project managers with investigation planning, field coordination, and execution
Lead and contribute to geotechnical report preparation, review, and quality control
Perform and oversee geotechnical construction observations and inspections as required
Coordinate subsurface investigations and review field documentation and logs
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field staff
Participate in fieldwork and site visits as needed
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of technical standards and best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required; Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred
8+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience
FE/EIT required; Professional Engineer licensure preferred
Demonstrated experience leading geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting
Strong background in earthwork, deep foundations, load testing, retaining structures, ground improvement, and excavation support systems
Working knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design software, including gINT, Slide/SLOPE/W, PLAXIS, LPILE, GRLWEAP, MSEW, and SHAKE
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with clients, contractors, and internal teams
Strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and analytical capability
Ability to work independently while contributing within a collaborative team environment
Willingness to perform fieldwork and travel to project sites as required
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
