Armed Security Officer (SPO)
Armed SPOs shall perform all tasks in accordance with the duties outlined within the Post Orders, which are prepared by the Office of Safety and Security for all shifts on each post. Some of the duties include but are not limited to:
Provide visual deterrence against wrongful acts against our client’s employees, customers, and property
Understand company policies and successfully execute your post orders
Access Control Package Screening (X‑Ray Machine)
Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers)
Traffic Control Visitor processing
Vehicle inspection
Communications and dispatching
Patrol areas inside and outside of the facility
Emergency and event response
Requires standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday
Correctly attired in uniform, equipment, and grooming
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to undergo a full background and personal reference check, in accordance with local law/regulations
Capable of making rational and reasonable decisions during tense, uncertain, rapidly evolving situations
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or professional correctional officer experience
Possess a high school diploma or equivalency; however, collegiate academic coursework or an AA/AS degree is preferred
Current SPO (Armed) license issued by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Security Officers Management Branch (SOMB)
SPO shall carry a current 9 mm Caliber Semiautomatic Pistol, “Qualified” card signed and dated by a certified firearm instructor
Certified to carry and shall carry Pepper Spray (Oleoresin Capsicum)
Possess a current “CPR/First Aid” card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands
SPO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties
Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors
SPO’s may be required to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis
SPO's physical stamina in all forms (mental, climatic, etc.) is a fundamental requirement of this position
Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs
