Job Responsibilities The Director of Rehabilitation Therapy Services is responsible for the efficient planning, directing, and evaluation of rehabilitation services for JHBMC. Working under the leadership of the PMR Dept Director and Administrator and the Vice President of Clinical and Support Services at JHBMC, the Director ensures that programs and services within the scope maintain the highest standards of clinical quality while operating in a fiscally sound manner that is responsive to environmental needs and constraints. The Director manages the overall clinical and administrative activities of therapy services, including inpatient, consults and outpatient clinics, and develops and implements new PT/OT/SLP programs.

Additional responsibilities include: directing subordinates, representing PM&R interests, collaborating with the multidisciplinary health care team, promoting improvements in service, department, and hospital systems, operationalizing hospital goals, and managing the PT/OT/SLP budget (expense, revenue, and volume).

Role Accountabilities

Integrate all functions in attainment of PMR Department and Medical Center goals.

Direct development, implementation, and evaluation of Rehabilitation programs and services at JHBMC; delineate authority, responsibilities, and lines of communication within Rehabilitation.

Ensure effective communication and problem solving with other Departments.

Coordinate the functions and programs of the PMR department with other Medical Center departments and services; act as liaison and representative of Rehabilitation Services to Medical Center administration, medical staff, outside agencies, and the community.

Responsible for various special administrative projects as defined by senior management.

Collaborate with physicians and JHBMC to develop new clinical programs.

Maintain appropriate accreditations and licenses/exemptions for rehabilitation services.

Participate on Medical Center committees, task forces, and professional rehabilitation organizations.

Support harmonization of physician, psychology, and therapy practices across JHH sites.

Qualifications Work requires completion of a Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation specialty (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum seven years clinical experience, at least five years in management roles. Prior experience should include progressive responsibility in leadership and administrative functions.

Current licensure as a PT, OT, or SLP by the Maryland State Board of Examiners required.

Salary Range $140,000 to $175,000 per year. Compensation commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
