Base Pay Range $115,000.00 – $183,000.00 per year
Overview The Director of Clinical Operations leads the Phase I clinical research business, coordinating clinical trials, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with the Medical Director to evaluate study design and execution. This role reports to the Senior Director or VP of Clinical Operations, depending on location.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise recruitment, hiring, performance development, and roster management for direct reports.
Analyze and manage the clinical research process, ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and all regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with the Medical Director to evaluate clinical trials and maintain study integrity from a safety and regulatory perspective.
Coordinate support services and maintain financial performance of the Early Clinical business.
Determine staffing plans and ensure coverage during absences.
Develop and maintain training programs, reference tools, and audits.
Communicate DaVita employment policies and foster a positive work environment.
Facilitate teammate development through coaching, mentoring, and professional development goals.
Review and approve timecards, track PTO and overtime, and manage teammate relations issues.
Develop educational programs to keep teammates updated on policies, regulations, and department processes.
Minimum Qualifications
BS/BA or equivalent in Clinical Research.
Minimum 5 years of clinical research experience.
Minimum 2 years of direct management experience.
Preferred 2 years of Phase 1 experience.
Demonstrated commitment to DaVita values and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities.
Analytical thinker with root‑cause analysis and improvement leadership.
Experience creating and managing new business processes.
Travel: less than 10% of time.
Availability for evening/night/weekend work as required.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
