Role Summary In this position you will drive the development and implementation of innovative design and manufacturing methodologies that enhance Rivian’s in‑house designed control units.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance to cross‑functional teams to ensure Design for Excellence principles are integrated into all stages of the design and development process.

Drive Design for Excellence and be the resident expert in this area.

Drive continuous improvement in DFx methodologies, ensuring the latest best practices, tools and technologies are leveraged.

Establish manufacturability and assembly specifications for PCBAs & electronic control units toward feasibility and scalability.

Work with main stakeholders in the completion of DFM, DFT and DFA, optimizing designs for volume manufacturing of PCBAs and control units.

Proactively identify high‑risk areas in the production and engineering design cycle.

Review BOMs, PCBs, PCB panels, stack‑up and other materials with internal stakeholders and contract manufacturers.

Identify, root‑cause and track issues and work with design engineers on necessary design changes through the production and vehicle launch process.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience on PCBA manufacturing processes.

10+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing focused on solving challenging issues through methodical problem‑solving techniques.

10+ years of experience evaluating electronic components, packages and solder interconnects for low and high voltage applications.

Strong knowledge of PCBA material properties and solder‑joint metallurgy.

Experience with CAD tools, PCBA/FPC layout review and design optimization.

Experience in failure analysis of electronic modules.

Forward thinking – providing inputs on new or alternative manufacturing test methods.

Ability to lead and sustain supplier manufacturing test processes to higher standards.

Ability to travel as needed to CM locations.

Ability to work and communicate with cross‑functional teams.

Strong team player, drive to exceed expectations and meet deadlines.

Ability to manage ambiguity, create clarity, oversee multiple projects and improve them.

Experience working at a contract manufacturer for high production rate PCBA production.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for Southern California‑based applicants: $125,200 – $159,000 (actual compensation will depend on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range for Northern California‑based applicants: $135,000 – $169,300 (actual compensation will depend on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits: Robust medical, Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner and children up to age 26.
