is working with a growing professional services firm that is looking to add a Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper to their team. This organization provides full-charge bookkeeping and financial management support to a diverse portfolio of small businesses, nonprofits, and high-net-worth clients. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their accounting team.
This role manages a set portfolio of clients, oversees junior bookkeeping staff, and ensures the accuracy of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financials. Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of 10–20 clients, each with their own books, reporting requirements, and timelines
Review financial statements and ensure accuracy across AP, AR, bank/credit card reconciliations, and adjusting entries
Supervise and develop 2–3 direct reports, providing training on QuickBooks, accounting entries, and client deliverables
Maintain ongoing communication with clients, addressing questions, providing updates, and ensuring timely completion of work
Process payroll and prepare payroll-related filings (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
Prepare sales tax returns, year-end financial packages, and tax support documents for CPAs
Post month-end and year-end adjusting entries, cleanups, and review work completed by junior staff
Prepare and file 1099s, W-2s, and other compliance forms as needed
Maintain accurate documentation for each client and support ongoing process improvements
Qualifications / Must Have:
5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, including payroll processing
1+ years of people leadership or supervision
Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online (experience in both preferred)
Strong Excel skills — formulas, sums; pivots/lookups a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle bookkeeping
Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
Strong organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
