Health Services Consultant 3 (HSC 3) – Credentialing Supervisor – Tumwater, WA
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement policies and procedures for licensing qualified healthcare providers.
Determine risks of compromising patient safety and balance access to care with safety.
Identify and report all adverse credentialing concerns to the Executive Director.
Develop and implement procedures for exception applications that do not meet standards based on an applicant’s history, background, or failure to meet standard of care qualifications.
Ensure background checks are conducted according to state and federal regulations while maintaining confidentiality.
Supervise a Credentialing Unit team that provides health services to the public. Assign and review work of employees, identify training and coaching needs based on observed performance.
Create plans for staff training to build capacity and offer opportunities for professional growth while meeting business and customer service needs.

Required Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of experience in a health profession or facility credentialing program, including:
Implementing credentialing processes and procedures in a regulatory environment that implements state statutes.
Applying commonly-used concepts, standards, and practices within a particular field of credentialing.
Solving problems within a complex regulatory system and addressing customer complaints.
Evaluating the effectiveness of existing processes to identify areas of potential improvement.
A year or more of experience providing subject matter technical expertise and quality review of work products using HELMS or a similar licensing database.
Minimum one year of supervisory or lead experience, preferably in a health services program.
Six or more months’ experience using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other standard office applications.
Demonstrates self‑awareness and self‑development; actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged using formal and informal development channels.
Ability to learn, retain, and apply new information regarding procedures, rules, policies, and requirements for credentialing multiple health care professionals.
Ability to work under pressure to meet strict guidelines while maintaining the integrity of the guidelines.
Ability to recognize performance indicators and make recommendations and action plans for performance improvement.
Ability to work within a secure work environment with highly sensitive and confidential materials.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Two or more years of experience reviewing documents and taking appropriate action based on an analysis of the information.
Bachelor’s degree or higher education.
