Save Job

Shape Alaska’s Digital History Help build the future of the Alaska State Electronic Records Archives (ASERA) and ensure generations of Alaskans can access their government’s history online. You’ll preserve and make discoverable 45+ terabytes of electronic records, partnering across the Division to deliver lasting public impact.

What You Will Be Doing

Preserve at scale:

Appraise, arrange, describe, and safeguard a growing corpus of born‑digital records and digital objects.

Standardize and optimize:

Establish and implement metadata standards; refine end‑to‑end workflows for long‑term digital preservation.

Collaborate across LAM:

Work closely with Records Analysts, archivists, and state‑documents librarians to ensure durable access for citizens, students, and researchers.

Serve Alaskans:

Provide responsive reference and outreach services to government officials, historians, academic researchers, and the public.

Our mission, values & culture As part of the State Libraries, Archives & Museums (LAM), we collect, care for, and share Alaska’s history to foster lifelong learning for all Alaskans. Archives staff advance this mission by organizing, preserving, and providing access to government information and historical materials statewide.

Benefits of Joining Our Team Our archives staff work closely with Records Analysts and state‑documents librarians to ensure historic records are meticulously maintained for future use by citizens, students, and researchers alike. This collaboration is vital for preserving our history.

There are fantastic training opportunities available at both local and national levels. These can help you gain valuable experience in permanent digital records preservation and archival practices, broaden your understanding of the field, and provide the chance to interact with various agencies across the state.

There is also the flexibility to telework on a part‑time basis. Lastly, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that researchers have online access to historical records.

The Working Environment You Can Expect Enjoy an open, light‑filled workspace with views of the Gastineau Channel and Douglas Island at the Andrew P. Kashevaroff building (395 Whittier Street) with dedicated parking and an on‑site café. The building is open Monday‑Friday, 7:30‑5:00; occasional telework is possible.
