Patent Attorney – Electrical Engineering Associate
A leading intellectual property law practice is seeking a Patent Attorney with an Electrical Engineering background to join its Seattle-based team. This is a hybrid role with two days in the office and three days remote each week. Relocation candidates are welcome, and relocation assistance is available.
Compensation & Schedule
Salary Range:
$200,000 – $240,000
Billable Hours:
1,850 annually
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid (2 days in office / 3 days remote)
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in electrical engineering–related technologies, including semiconductors, chip architecture, and integrated circuits
Draft and respond to USPTO Office Actions and manage ongoing prosecution matters
Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and landscape analyses
Collaborate with clients, inventors, and internal teams to align IP strategy with business objectives
Support the development and management of sophisticated IP portfolios
Work closely with attorneys, patent agents, and staff to deliver high-quality work product and client service
Qualifications
3–5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
Electrical Engineering (or closely related) technical background
USPTO registration required
Admission to practice and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Strong academic credentials (competitive candidates typically demonstrate A/B+ level performance)
Excellent legal writing, research, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Authorization to work in the United States
