Salary : The previously determined range for this position was $36.08/hr to $80.98/hr. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Position Summary The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes the initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence-Based Practice, Relationship-Based Care, and nursing excellence standards into clinical practice. The role integrates the professional practice model, current standards of practice, and clinical experience to deliver quality patient care measured by established nursing standards and other accrediting bodies. The Staff Nurse I collaborates with the health care team, advocates for patients, and supports department and unit goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient’s family.
Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care.
Verifies and implements orders from physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses, documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
Engages with patients and/or family to develop an appropriate educational plan.
Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient’s changing needs.
Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
Advocates for patients, families, community, and nursing profession.
Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards, and clinical experience to provide quality patient care.
Assumes role of Charge Nurse as assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
Collaborates with other nurses to promote positive learning experiences for staff and students.
Serves as preceptor or resource to nursing support staff and students.
Takes responsibility for continued professional growth by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
Current (AHA) ACLS/BLS/CPR or other required unit-specific certifications.
Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships.
Intermediate computer skills with ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
Preferred Qualifications Emergency Department Experience preferred.
