Job Title Auditor IV – Hawaii Island, Department of Taxation, Hilo

Salary: $5,369 to $6,535 per month (SR‑22, Step D to I). Hiring rates are based on availability of funds, applicant's qualifications and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary

Examine accounts to render an opinion regarding the financial position and operations of governmental agencies, individuals and business entities.

Apply sound accounting judgement and generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles.

Independently conduct field audits of governmental books, records or business entities, regulated public utilities and transportation firms.

Supervise a small group of lower‑level auditors as a project leader on less complex cases.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Legal Authorization To Work : Must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

Basic Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year university with at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.

Specialized Experience:

Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience requiring knowledge and application of generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles, standards, theory and practices for analyzing and interpreting accounting books, records or systems.

Driver's License:

Valid driver’s license required at the time of appointment for the immediate vacancy.
