Job Description The Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for utilizing research skills and working with tax software applications to prepare simple tax returns. The Tax Senior will gather client information for appropriate tax filings, prepare tax accrual work papers, participate in the tax planning process, and recognize and communicate potential risks.

Job Summary The role requires a strong analytical background, familiarity with transfer‑pricing studies, and the ability to manage complex client engagements while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Job Duties

Transfer Pricing Studies

Conducts transfer pricing studies involving planning, documentation, audit defense and compliance stages.

Scopes, designs, and conducts financial analysis related to intercompany transactions, including evaluation of industry and client data to benchmark or document pricing policies.

Completes supplemental financial analysis such as market penetration scenarios, intangible property valuation, and loan/guarantee/insurance transaction analysis.

Plans, schedules, and executes transfer pricing analyses under the direction of STS Senior Director or STS Manager.

Manages deadlines and data due dates for assigned projects.

Uses standard databases (Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10‑K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis) to gather company information.

Prepares project reports documenting compliance of intercompany prices with tax regulations and presents consulting advice summarizing the approach, research, quantitative analysis, and results.

Participates in scoping calls, prepares draft proposals and engagement letters under guidance of STS leaders.

Prepares client presentations conveying analysis results and recommendations.

Conducts client interviews to understand factors affecting intercompany transactions (corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, value drivers, industry overview, historical context).

Reviews benchmarking work completed by STS Transfer Pricing Associates.

Tax Controversy

Applies knowledge of audit, competent authority, and APA processes, including statutory deadlines and requirements.

Prepares IDR responses and assists clients with arguments during audits.

Tax Provision and FIN 48

Applies transfer pricing within the context of tax provisions and ASC 740‑10.

Drafts memos for transfer pricing ASC 740‑10 analysis.

Collaborates with Core Tax and STS Groups.

Develops in‑depth knowledge of technical and practical taxation issues.

Maintains visibility in local offices and regions, networking with core tax and assurance managers.

Other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises the day‑to‑day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Associates and interns, reviewing work product.

Ensures Associates and interns are trained on all relevant tax software.

Provides clarification and guidance on complex concepts and tasks.

Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes evaluations.

Acts as a mentor to Associates and interns.

Monitors budgets and billings to manage project profitability.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field (required).

Advanced degree (preferred).

Intermediate understanding of taxation issues and opportunities.

Experience across different industries and transaction types.

Experience

More than two years of prior work experience (required).

Experience within a transfer‑pricing practice (required).

Prior supervisory experience (preferred).

Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer‑pricing perspective (preferred).

License/Certifications

None specified.

Software

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Prior exposure to S&P Compustat, Moody’s RiskCalc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, and other financial databases (preferred).

Compensation

National Range: $73,500 – $131,250

Maryland Range: $73,500 – $131,250

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $73,500 – $131,250

Washington DC Range: $73,500 – $131,250
