Saturday – Sunday 7:30 am – 12:30 pm . 5‑hour shifts that are 100% field‑based. The individual must understand the impact of behavioral health symptoms on presentation and the importance of leveraging community and family supports.
Pay rates for Union positions are set in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 521.
6 steps, Step 1 (entry level) to Step 6. Current Step 1: $35.49/hr. Current Step 6: $39.19/hr.
Shift differential (selected once per shift):
6.25% additional pay for overnight (NOC) shift 11 pm – 7 am
4.75% additional pay for evening shift 5:30 pm – 10:59 pm
4.75% additional pay for weekend shifts 12:01 am Saturday – 11:59 pm Sunday
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide mental health rehabilitation and case‑management services for a varying caseload, involving families to support clients in daily living and community integration.
Develop curriculum and facilitate groups and one‑on‑ones to strengthen life, coping, and independent living skills.
Provide group facilitation through field and periodic outings to promote community integration.
Assist clients and families with social integration into community life, housing, school, employment, and other independent living skills.
Assist with budgeting and financial planning; address health and safety issues and common emergencies.
Interface directly with clients for counseling, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
Assess independent living skills and stability; alert staff of medication issues.
Write 5150 holds and de‑escalate threats as required.
Update treatment plans per agency guidelines; consult with clinicians; document progress.
Coordinate care with other programs; refer to agency and non‑agency therapists; liaise with courts and probation agents.
Advocate for clients with outside agencies and support families through resource linkage.
Coordinate activities, food, and related services for agency kitchen and residential facilities; maintain safety and sanitation.
Prepare, plan, and serve meals; maintain clean kitchen and dining areas.
Perform sanitation, cleaning, and food storage maintenance.
Complete clinical records and documentation; maintain timely billing and compliance with regulations.
Perform administrative admissions, discharge paperwork, and timecard processing.
Provide transportation in agency or personal vehicles; deliver clients and supplies.
Perform First Aid in emergency situations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist clients with primary care appointments and medical coordination.
Facilitate client insurance benefits and payment processes.
Provide support during client crises.
Attend staff, program, agency, and community meetings and training.
Interface with staff, clients, and visitors as needed.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain program facilities clean and well kept.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
(E = Essential; D = Desired)
Master’s degree in mental health or related field + 2 years full‑time experience, OR Bachelor’s + 4 years, OR Associate’s + 6 years.
First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire (E) or certification for other locations (D).
Certification in writing 5150 holds (E).
Purchasing and kitchen experience, basic nutrition, menu development, cooking techniques, safe food storage, sanitation, and supply management (E).
Safe handling of hazardous materials (E).
Ability to work independently and in small teams; engage and communicate effectively; monitor development; manage multiple tasks; exercise judgment in emergencies; work from strengths‑based model; collaborate across diverse populations; support high‑risk individuals; exhibit exemplary customer service (E).
Work with participants who may have assaultive behavior, long‑term care history, emergency‑dependent services, cognitive or medical fragility, or homelessness and criminal justice involvement (E).
Knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment, rehabilitation of psychological disorders, community resources, MHSA, WRAP (D).
Criminal records clearance required (E).
Typing 40 wpm, computer literacy, Internet search, Microsoft Office; familiarity with UNIX databases (D).
Valid California Driver License, reliable vehicle, auto liability insurance, clean DMV record, Class B eligibility (E).
Physical requirements: standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling; hearing and talking; balancing, climbing; evacuation assistance (E).
