Deputy Code Development Counsel
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) seeks a full-time Deputy Code Development Counsel in the Bureau of Legal Affairs. Reporting directly to the Fire Code Counsel, the successful candidate will:
Assist in developing, drafting, advocating for enactment of, implementing and interpreting the New York City Fire Code, Fire Department rules, and other public safety legislation and rules.
Interact regularly with city agency executives and staff, both within and outside the Fire Department, including the Mayor’s Office and City Council representatives, as well as representatives from real estate, professional, community, and other organizations.
Base Pay Range $89,613.00/yr - $132,293.00/yr
Minimum Qualifications
Admission to the New York State Bar.
One year of satisfactory United States legal experience after admission to any state bar; or six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
Incumbents must remain members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.
For Assignment Level II: one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience after admission to the bar in relevant areas.
For Assignment Level III: two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience after admission to the bar in relevant areas.
