Responsibilities This individual will lead project teams in the pursuit and delivery of health projects, with a primary focus on facility and departmental planning of health and research facilities. Key responsibilities include:
Conducting client meetings, analyzing needs, and developing architectural solutions that respond to patient and staff flow, emerging technologies, and clinical equipment requirements.
Initiating schematic designs and preparing presentation drawings, models, and narratives.
Coordinating all disciplines involved in building design and healthcare planning.
Representing the firm on the business‑development team and presenting to prospective clients.
Providing guidance to designers and collaborating with engineering disciplines during schematic and design‑development phases to ensure alignment with architectural, engineering, and client objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Architecture
20 years’ experience in health architecture and planning
Extensive knowledge of health architecture planning and design
Deep understanding of health facility operations, life‑safety codes, MEP and structural implications/requirements, and health standards (FGI, JACHO, etc.)
Advanced credentials such as ACHA, EDAC, LEED, Lean Six Sigma
Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, REVIT, Rhino, Blue Beam)
Active participation in relevant community activities to promote HDR’s vision and values
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
15 years of related experience
Minimum 7 years of project‑management experience
Registered Architect
Experience on large‑scale projects and ability to lead a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Extensive knowledge of the local and regional market
Strong team‑leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to travel
Commitment to participate actively in HDR’s employee‑owned culture
