Responsibilities
Produce highway, interstate drainage, and local stormwater improvement projects.
Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses.
Ensure drainage designs comply with environmental regulations and industry standards.
Prepare regulatory permits related to drainage.
Perform and/or direct drainage engineering calculations from Phase I studies to final design.
Develop plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
Coordinate with project staff, other disciplines and sub‑consultants.
Define drainage scope of work, budget, and schedule.
Ensure quality and accuracy of drainage designs and reports.
Qualifications
15+ years of drainage design experience.
Illinois PE licensure required.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required.
CFM certification is a plus.
Proficiency with MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, and HY‑8.
Experience with IDOT and ISTHA drainage design.
Ability to guide junior engineers and monitor project budgets, scope, and schedules.
Experience with 2‑D hydraulic modeling in SRH‑2D is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements The job involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and loud noise. Physical tasks include intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, and lifting light equipment up to 20 pounds. Occasional work near hazardous equipment and uneven ground is required. Potential exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and temperature extremes.
