Litigation and Bankruptcy Secretary
Location: San Francisco, CA (Fully Onsite)
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 annually, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Litigation and Bankruptcy Secretary to provide high-level administrative and legal support to attorneys in a fast‑paced law firm environment. This role requires strong knowledge of litigation and bankruptcy procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to litigation and bankruptcy attorneys.
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and bankruptcy filings.
- Handle electronic and manual court filings in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, including CM/ECF.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, meetings, and deadlines.
- Monitor and docket court deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules.
- Coordinate service of process and filings with courts, clients, and opposing counsel.
- Maintain and organize case files (electronic and physical).
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, binders, and witness materials.
- Handle time entry, billing coordination, and expense reports.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and internal staff.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a litigation secretary, with bankruptcy experience required.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and bankruptcy court rules and procedures.
- Proficiency with CM/ECF and legal document management systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Excellent typing, proofreading, and formatting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple attorneys and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Fully onsite position in San Francisco.
