Job Overview Are you an up-and-coming Senior Accountant looking to serve a great cause? This is an exciting opportunity to support a mission-based organization that ensures that DC's most vulnerable populations have access to healthcare. With a strong financial foundation, collaborative environment, and hybrid schedule, this role offers the perfect blend of stability, challenge, and career growth.
The Accounting Senior will report directly to the Controller, supporting the full range of accounting functions including revenue processing, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who’s ready to take ownership, lead with confidence, and help enhance internal systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Oversee revenue entries, cash receipts, reconciliations, and expense allocations.
Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Assist with the annual budget process, audit preparation, and ad hoc analysis.
Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a nonprofit, association, or mission-driven organization.
Solid knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Experience mentoring colleagues or playing informal leadership roles.
Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Sage Intacct
A proactive mindset, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
