Manager of Revenue Accounting
This role leads revenue recognition activities for a Software/SaaS organization, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and SOX requirements. The Manager of Revenue Accounting oversees revenue accounting operations, supports audits, partners cross‑functionally, and improves processes and controls related to revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Own and oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, including contract review, performance obligations, transaction price allocation, and revenue timing
Manage monthly and quarterly revenue close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, and Billing to review customer contracts and ensure proper accounting treatment
Ensure compliance with SOX controls related to revenue, including documentation, testing, and remediation of control deficiencies
Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors for revenue‑related matters
Develop, implement, and maintain revenue accounting policies, procedures, and technical memos
Oversee deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, contract assets, and contract liabilities
Evaluate and support new products, pricing models, and go‑to‑market initiatives for revenue impact
Improve and automate revenue processes and systems, including ERP and revenue recognition tools
Lead, mentor, and develop revenue accounting team members
Support ad hoc projects and technical accounting initiatives as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Software/SaaS industry experience
Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition
Strong SOX compliance and internal controls experience
Experience managing or reviewing complex customer contracts
Prior people management or team leadership experience preferred
Hands‑on experience with ERP systems and revenue recognition software (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, Zuora, RevPro, or similar)
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting high‑growth SaaS companies
Experience with system implementations or process transformations
